Everything You Need to Know About Record Store Day

Everything You Need to Know About Record Store Day

WHAT IS RECORD STORE DAY (RSD)?

The first Record Store Day event was April 19, 2008. It was created to highlight and celebrate the independent brick-and-mortar record stores remaining in America. RSD entices folks to show up – in person – and soak up the glory that is your neighborhood record shop. Learn more history here.

WHAT ARE RSD TITLES?

Bands and labels plan all year to put out very limited quantities of a unique record. Early on, it was a small list of independent labels and distributors participating. Over the years, it has grown into an impressive list of records from a broad range of genres and artists who know the value of being part of RSD (hello, Taylor!).

Every year, they release The List of Exclusive Titles. See the 2024 list.

We take your requests, make educated guesses, place the orders by RSD deadline, then we wait to see what arrives. There are finite quantities being dispersed among 1,400+ stores globally, so we gladly accept what is allotted us. There is no way of knowing until they are delivered to our store the week of RSD.

HOW DO I GET THE RSD EXCLUSIVES?

You can only get them on Record Store Day by showing up in person at the store.

There are specific rules around these records. If we break them, we could be kicked out of RSD membership. Let’s respect these rules:

• Customers cannot order them, only authorized record stores.
• No special orders.
• No holding any titles for you.
• While we can tell you which titles have shown up, we cannot tell you specific quantity.

You must show up on the designated Saturday and wait your turn to shop the titles we receive. First come, first served.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I SHOW UP ON RSD?

RSD is a big deal. Some people who really want specific titles camp out overnight to be at the front of the line. Most others arrive from 5am on, day of. The earlier you arrive the better your spot in line, and that line gets looooong.

The records will be under the tent on our back patio.
The tent opens at 10am.
Only one copy of each title per person. No exceptions.

WHAT ELSE HAPPENS AT YOUR RECORD STORE DAY?

We party with you!
Along with RSD exclusives, we have live bands playing on our indoor stage from Noon – 6:30 pm.
There’s food available from local eateries and free beer (if you’re 21+) from local breweries.
The party winds down around 7, the store closes at 8pm.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER RSD?

Any RSD titles left after the official Saturday remain in the store for you to buy. And come Monday, we will post what remains on our website.
